6 Cozy Fall Paint Colors

6 Cozy Fall Paint Colors

When summer ends, it’s always a little sad because we’ll always love the sun and warm weather. But the end of summer also means the beginning of one of our other favorite seasons: fall. You can feel fall in the air when it comes. You’ll suddenly find yourself reaching for a sweater because the air is a little chilly. This time of year is all about feeling warm and cozy. Your wardrobe does change with the seasons, so why not change the way you decorate to match? It’s a lot simpler than you might think! You don’t have to change everything about your space. It can be as easy as adding some beautiful autumn colors.

COLORS INSPIRED BY FALL

When you’re trying to figure out how to change your home for fall, it can be helpful to think about how the season makes you feel. When you think about the weather, your favorite seasonal activities, or even your clothes, what comes to mind? Warm and cozy are the first words that come to mind for many people, including us. That means you should look for colors like red, orange, yellow, and brown that have a warm undertone.

But those aren’t the only things you can do! You’ll need some cool colors that go with it to make it look right. Just look outside your window if you need more ideas. You’ll see warm colors in the leaves as they change, but you’ll also see cooler colors in the tree bark, the sky on gray days, and the grass as it slowly starts to grow back.

When you’re deciding which rooms to add fall colors to, think about how you use each room and how you want to feel when you’re spending time there. Most rooms where people gather work well with fall colors. It could be a formal living room or dining room, a family room, a cozy den, or a small reading nook.

6 WARM COLORS TO PAINT FOR FALL

  1. Mocha
  2. Olive
  3. Eggplant
  4. Ochre
  5. Wheat
  6. Wine

Even though the colors of the changing leaves are easy to see, most people find those shades of red, yellow, and orange to be a bit too bright. You don’t have to stick to really bright colors to feel like fall. We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite colors to give you ideas.

MOCHA

What makes you feel more warm and cozy than a cup of coffee on a cool morning? We can’t think of anything! Mocha is a brown color that looks creamy and makes a great background for brighter colors in your accent pieces. It’s a beautiful neutral color that adds warmth and gives you a lot of freedom. It goes well with the oranges, reds, and yellows of fall, but it also goes well with colors from every season, so you could easily switch out some accent pieces to change the look of your space throughout the year.

OLIVE GREEN

Olive green is a great choice for walls because it makes people feel calm. That’s exactly what you want when you just want to relax at home. Olive goes well with earthy browns, natural wood tones, and buttery yellows. Again, it’s a color that says “fall” but doesn’t look out of place in any other season. By adding a bit of pink and creamy beige, you could easily make a spring palette.

EGGPLANT

If you want something a lot more exciting, eggplant is a great choice. This royal purple color adds a lot of drama to any room, but it doesn’t feel too much. It would look great in a formal dining room or living room where people gather. It goes well with darker wood tones, olive green, and softer neutrals like gray or creamy white.

OCHRE

Ochre is a great choice if you want something bright. The color comes from a natural clay earth pigment with the same name. Its shades range from yellow to orange. We love a version that is a little bit more yellow because it adds a pop of color while still having that earthy feel. It goes well with taupe-gray or dark brown, which helps to ground the space. If you want to make it lighter, you can pair it with light gray and a very soft buttery yellow.

WHEAT

Wheat is a beautiful neutral choice for an all-over wall color for people who like to keep things simple. It’s almost white, but there’s more to it than that. It looks great with lighter shades of blue, gray, sage green, and light brown. A creamy white with a hint of yellow is perfect for a little extra warmth.

WINE

Red is the perfect color for fall, of course. But a bright, fiery red wall can feel too much, especially in a smaller room. Try something that reminds you of your favorite glass of red wine for a cozier and more comforting take on this classic color. This berry red color has some depth. It’s bright, but not too busy. This color goes well with creamy white, light beige, taupe, deep blue, and butternut yellow.
