Introducing craft beer to downtown Apex, a neighborhood gathering place where neighbors, friends, and coworkers can interact over a nice pint. Before prohibition, practically every town and municipality had its brewery and bar at the turn of the century. They want to commemorate that moment in time with their local brewery and celebrate what craft beer is all about: innovation and pleasure. Browse for more.
Southern Peak Brewery It is a seven-barrel brewery and taproom situated just outside of Apex, North Carolina. Their award-winning brewery, located in the Villages of Apex area, offers various varieties, concentrating on classic German styles, lagers, and IPAs.
Before prohibition, every town and community in the United States had its brewery or tavern, where friends and family gathered, innovative discussions flourished, and issues were addressed (kind of!). Pints of varying quality and character from around the area were poured.
Southern Peak’s concept is more of a spirit that revives a specific character, marked by hard labor, personal touch, and a strong feeling of community, than one of nostalgia to help people reclaim their sense of community.
They profoundly adore Apex’s rich past, which has molded it into the beautiful location it is today. They feel privileged to be a part of it. I love this community and look forward to sharing their vision with you, neighbors, friends, and family. Cheers!
OUR BEERS
BOXCAR BELLE GERMAN LAGER
ABV 4.5% IBU 36.5
Two awards were given in the American Beer Open Championship.
2016 SILVER & 2018 BRONZE
A rich malt aroma and controlled noble hops contribute to a pleasant medium body in this amber hybrid. The amber-colored German lager is well balanced, bitter yet malty, and smooth.
MIDNIGHT CONDUCTOR BALTIC PORTER
ABV 7.0% IBU 35.4
2016 U.S. OPEN BEER CHAMPIONSHIP SILVER MEDAL WINNER
The Midnight Conductor will take you on a dangerously smooth trip. A deep, rich malt fragrance welcomes you into a comfortable seat to taste chocolate with dark fruit overtones.
TROPICAL INDIA PALE ALE
ABV 6.6% IBU 35.4
2019 U.S. OPEN BEER CHAMPIONSHIP BRONZE MEDAL WINNER
The tropical aromas of passion fruit and melon are highlighted in our newest IPA, which is brewed with a combination of American and Australian hops. The combination of pleasing hop bitterness and cold lager conditioning results in a pleasantly crisp finish that will have you looking forward to warmer days.
Peak City Pilsner
ABV 5.22% IBU 35.9
This is our take on a typical Bohemian Pilsner with a personality all its own. For a clean malt and hop finish, a malty biscuit flavor is backed by just the correct quantity of classic German hops. Enjoy this traditional beer that will have you returning for more.
PUFFING DEVIL INDIA PALE ALE
ABV 6.07% IBU 58.7
This strong but deceitfully smooth IPA, named after the first steam locomotive, has two new hop varietals introduced over eight well-timed kettle additions. This devil in disguise is sinful, with bold flavors softly coalescing with a sweet and luscious light body.
As a small brewery, they are always looking for new ways to expand the beer selection in the taproom. Most of the time, they keep their core beers on tap, but they try to rotate their other beers to provide diversity.
